I don’t remember when I got the socks. I’ve been telling people I’ve had them since high school, but honestly, I could have gotten them at a Ross in 2016 or 2017?
I think there were six pairs at first, and, since I only wore them to run, I kept up with them pretty well.
But as I started to run more, they started to go missing.
By last Christmas, I was down to three pairs, and I left one of them at my parents’ house.
In late January, the holes started to appear.
Last week, I realized I had three individual socks.
Finally, I had to do something, but I didn’t want to.
I hate changing little parts of my routine. (It’s a fun trait from my dad lol)
I eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch every day. I have formulas for what cold weather running gear to wear in what temperature. I wear the same thing to bed every night.
And I’ve worn the same running socks for at least five years.
They were like magic. Even with two holes in each of them, they never ever gave me blisters. EVER.
I ran 10 miles in the rain through mostly ankle-deep water and walked away as happy as one could be in that situation with no blisters on my feet.
There are rather gaping holes in the bottom of these socks, and I’ve STILL gotten no blisters.
What if new socks started giving me blisters? Would I have to switch to “real” running socks?
(I don’t know how or why runners wear crew-length socks. It’s freaking hot out.)
I was getting desperate. I had to find the same pairs.
I searched Amazon “Reebok running socks.” I found some men’s socks that looked like mine and some women’s that were fairly close, but they were more expensive than I thought they would be.
I searched Walmart and found something very similar to what I had, but the shipping was the same price as the socks.
Finally, Google pointed me to Ebay, where for $10, shipping included, I could be the owner of six more pairs of (NEW) Reebok low-cut athletic socks.
I was confused at first. Isn’t Ebay where you buy bobbleheads of Larry Bird and refurbished laptops?
But there they were, looking just like the six pairs I bought so many years ago.
At this moment, the socks are supposedly sitting in my mailbox. I’m in East Tennessee today, but I’m excited to treat my feet next week to some non-stretched out, non-holey Reebok low-cut athletic socks.
